Our Mission

"Hospital San Carlos is a rural hospital in Altamirano, that with its quality services and orientation to the original people of the region, creates access to their right to health"

Our Vision

"We are a culture oriented, sustainable rural hospital, with professionalized and sensibilized personal, which is accepted by the community and reference center for the original people of the region."

Our Region

In Chiapas, mortality rates from communicable diseases and lack of good nutrition are the highest in the country. There are endemic areas of third-world diseases considered as chagas, tuberculosis, onchocerciasis and trachoma. Access to health services in the state is poor, and there is heightened discrimination toward indigenous women.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

A sustainbility program at Hospital San Carlos is of particular importance because the population it serves depends on the environment critically and suffers when it is damaged.

Our hospital is currently focused on four initiatives: integrating alternative medicine into treatment, pharmacy control, control of materials that have mercury, and proper handling of waste.
